Add files from Unity Version Control to Cloud Assets

You can add files from Unity Version Control (Unity VCS) to Asset Manager. This helps you to easily work with large files, manage assets, and improve the discoverability of your assets stored in the Unity VCS repositories. For example, you can:

  • Make Unity VCS the data source to create Asset Manager assets.
  • Quickly find assets from Unity VCS in a gallery view.
  • Enhance search precision for your assets with tags and filters.

What happens when my organization connects Unity VCS and Asset Manager?

When you connect Asset Manager to Unity VCS, it enables:

  • Asset Manager Admin who has the permission to access Unity VCS repositories can add files from these repositories to Cloud Assets.
  • Changes happening at check-in to files in Unity VCS are reflected in Asset Manager.
  • The changelog of each commit is retrieved and surfaced in the history of the asset in Asset Manager.
  • Asset Manager can transform Unity VCS files to generate previews.
  • Any consumers or users with higher roles in the Asset Manager project where the Cloud asset resides can download the content, regardless of their permissions in the Unity VCS repository.
